Re: Submission guidelines

Thanks, Mike, for sending your story. I'm always grateful when writers to send me their articles. Otherwise I would be missing a lot of good stories.

Re: Nominations from Southwest: The Magazine

Hi JK,

Thanks very much for submitting the articles. I see what you mean about the user friendliness. Could you e-mail pdfs of the articles to me? My e-mail address: tfATtimfolgerDOTnet. Just replace AT and DOT with the standard symbols. It's part of my bot-avoidance strategy.

Re: nomination.

Thanks for suggesting the article, Oakanji1. It is indeed a good one. I have a subscription to the New Yorker so I spotted it over the summer, and I will be including it in the package of articles I send to next year's guest editor, who will make the final selections for the 2016 edition of the anth...

Re: Prayer and Asteroids

Hi Kevin, Thanks for the link. I'm hoping to write about this topic soon. If the budget mentioned in the article is accurate, then it seems like a bargain--a few hundred million a year for a program that might save a city--or our civilization: Detection efforts = $100 million a year. Mitigation effo...

Hi Kevin, A number of studies in the U.S. suggest that homicide rates are higher in counties with higher rates of gun ownership. Hi David,

I'm sorry you lost you lost your message. The system is set to log you out after one hour of inactivity. I could extend the inactive period to two or more hours if that would be helpful.

Re: Why Science Needs to Be Taught in America

Out of curiosity I tracked down the original poll. It can be found here: http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/main/2012/10/halloween-poll-results.html . A link near the bottom of the page opens a pdf with the full poll results. The sample size was 1,200 registered voters--more than enough to be statis...
